There is a specialist park and good off-piste terrain for boarders. Throughout the extensive ski area, boarders will find masses of attractions; Quarterpipe (various), snake (250m long), half pipe (various), big air (2.5m high and 10m long) and boarder crosses (7 turns with vertical drop of 80 - 100 metres).
The sheer expanse and variety of the ski area provides runs for all abilities. There are many wide and gentle runs, ensuring beginners and intermediates don't get stuck with tough routes home or experts get bogged down with flat terrain. Two-thirds of the mountain is wooded, satisfying aesthetics, and the north-facing slopes hold the snow.
There is the now famous 'Luc Alphand' Olympic black run - fancy yourself as the next downhill champion? This is the stuff of dreams. There are also a few feisty black runs to be sampled in Monetier (Serre Che 1500) and the whole off-piste domain is nothing short of fantastic. Plankers or boarders, novices or know-it-alls - there's something for everyone.
The Grande Serre Chevalier pass covers Briançon, Chantemerle (1350), Villeneuve (1400) and Monetier les Bains (1500). A free ski bus links all areas. This pass also includes one day's free skiing in Montgenèvre. |
